1. Converse with AI about each question—asking at least two follow up questions to unpack and gain clarity
2. Then in discussion—no reading GPT, but explain in their own words what they discovered
3. Encouraged them to challenge GPT, “but what about… “ “but how does that explain…” working together with AI to unpack nuance.

Not human podcasters…this is Google Notebook LM—it created an AI podcast that synthesized three sources we just read in class—this was a pre-writing activity…AI amplifies learning.
I created a custom GPT called ODIN. Then my students had to create six questions to ask Odin about the Viking Myths we have been reading. Incredible! They were so engaged. One student asked: Odin, how he defines courage. He said, “mere mortal, courage is not about eliminating fear but mastering your fear!”
Incredible day getting to speak at the LA County Teacher of the Year Banquet! And getting to hang out with my fellow CA TOY’s past and present. Such incredible people. The foundation of a democracy is a strong public education system!

As Teacher of the Year, I taught at Los Padrinos for the last two weeks. I went in to teach inmates, but instead I met the most amazing kids. I will never forget this experience. We wrote anecdotes, read books, and analyzed a Tupac poem about a rose growing from concrete. One kid said to the class, my dream is to be free and to be the one that opens and closes my own doors. I went to teach, but I learned so much more. Thank you @losangelescoe and @debraduardo for the opportunity
